Making Change Requires Action

I tend to be a creature of habit. While I don’t oppose some change, it is not necessarily something I’m inclined to embrace enthusiastically. However, without change, we would never see the results of what we wish to accomplish. Making change requires taking action in order to the get results we want.

The past couple of weeks have been busy, and at times, overwhelming. My husband and I have spent hours discussing our future and some of the steps that need to be taken now in order for those future dreams to become a reality. Often, those discussions seemed more like arguments as we each struggled to communicate our opinions with each other in such a way that we could both understand what the other was trying to convey.

My husband and I have dreamed of running some sort of online store in order to one day support our future family. But that dream won’t become a reality unless we start taking action now to make the changes that will yield the anticipated results. So, this past week we started taking small steps in that direction. We attended an ecommerce webinar challenge, started setting up a website, and have been researching potential niche and product ideas. Quite honestly, it feels like we’ve been drinking from a firehose all week with the amount of information we’ve been trying to absorb and implement. These action steps have revealed areas where we still need to grow in our communication skills and how to respond in love even when frustrated.

Change can be hard, but not all of it has to be. If we lean in and embrace the change, take joy in the journey, and count our blessings along the way, we can look back with gratitude for how those experiences changed us for the better. So, I am choosing to be grateful in this crazy adventure we call life. I’m choosing to be grateful for the deep, hard conversations because they are an opportunity to learn how to communicate and love better. And I’m grateful for my husband, family, and friends who are willing to help me grow and embrace the change—after all, I do tend to be a creature of habit.
