Enduring Love
Last summer, my youngest sister was offered her dream job of working on a cattle ranch. So, she packed everything up and headed out to Nebraska. While excited for the opportunity this was for her, it was hard knowing she would be living over fifteen hundred miles away from home.
She and her boyfriend continued to date each other long-distance (this wasn’t their first rodeo—shortly after they began dating a little over three years ago, he went on a yearlong mission trip around the United States). Lately, he’s been out to visit with her any chance he got, constantly surprising her with practical, yet lavish gifts. It made my heart happy to know she had someone who cared so deeply for her, especially as she was so far away from friends and family back home.
When her boyfriend was in town visiting with my husband and me last week, it was with joy-filled anticipation as we knew that said boyfriend was getting ready to pop the question to my sister. Getting a sneak peak of the ring made that anticipation all the more real.
And finally, this past Saturday, the anticipation turned to exhilaration and excitement as my baby sister got engaged! I am beyond thrilled for this next chapter in her life and excited for the day when I get to celebrate with her in person (until then, I shall have to suffice with video chats—technology is great and all, but you can’t give a hug via a video call; I’d much rather be celebrating with her in person).
